Acoustic Secondary Glazing
Reduce external noise by up to 54dB with our specialist acoustic secondary glazing. Using 10.8mm laminated glass and optimised air gaps, we create a peaceful interior environment without altering your original windows.
Effective Against All Noise Sources
Our acoustic secondary glazing is designed to combat the full spectrum of urban noise.
Road Traffic
Heavy traffic, buses, and delivery vehicles on residential streets.
Aircraft Noise
Properties under Heathrow, City Airport, and other flight paths.
Railway Noise
Homes near overground lines, tube routes, and freight corridors.
Urban Noise
Pubs, restaurants, nightlife, construction, and general city noise.
How Acoustic Secondary Glazing Works
Sound travels through windows via vibration. Single glazing offers minimal resistance, allowing noise to pass through relatively unimpeded. Even modern double glazing, with its narrow cavity, provides limited acoustic improvement — typically only 25-30dB reduction.
Acoustic secondary glazing works by creating a much larger air gap — typically 100-150mm — between your existing window and the new internal panel. This air gap acts as a sound buffer, significantly reducing noise transmission. Combined with our 10.8mm laminated acoustic glass, which has a special interlayer designed to dampen sound waves, the result is noise reduction of up to 54dB.
To put this in context: a reduction of 10dB sounds like the noise has been cut in half. A 54dB reduction transforms heavy traffic noise into a barely perceptible whisper.
